CEO Profile
BEXA CEO Bruce Haines joined the building industry in 1981 as an apprentice carpenter with an industrial engineering company owned by engineer Bob Lewis.
In 1983, he switched to the architectural residential sector, working for a building company owned by business partners Lionel Murphy (builder) and Rex Addison (architect).
Bruce obtained his building registration in 1993 and was a self-employed builder for eleven years.
From 1997 to 2004, he owned a pre-purchase building inspection company, Australian Structural Inspections.
He was then a building inspector for the Qld Building Services Authority for six years.
In the aftermath of the 2011 floods, Bruce consulted to ICPS Australia, an engineering business largely servicing the insurance industry, where he rose to be National Technical Manager. When ICPS ceased trading in 2018, Bruce established BEXA.
He sourced highly skilled design, engineering and building consultants and project management team members for the new venture.
Bruce Haines (Director CEO)
Bruce has been highly regarded in the building industry for 40 years and, as BExA’s chief negotiator and dealmaker, is at the forefront of building consultancy services in Queensland.
Bruce established BExA in 2018 to fill a gap in the market. His unique ability to assess opportunities and risks for new business ventures and evaluate their strategic fit, plus his sound judgement and insight, has ensured BExA’s successful growth.
Bruce holds an Advanced Diploma in Building & Construction Management, plus many building inspection and builders’ licences.
His career began in 1981 as a carpenter with an industrial engineering company before he switched to the architectural residential sector. He obtained his building registration in 1993 and was a successful self-employed builder for 11 years. Bruce has extensive project management and superintendent experience in architectural residential, commercial, and industrial construction, and substantial experience in Heritage and National Trust restorations.
From 1997 to 2004, Bruce owned a pre-purchase building inspection company, Australian Structural Inspections, receiving recognition for being highly motivated, well organised and trusted in the building industry.
From 2005 to 2011, he was a building inspector for the Queensland Building Services Authority, ensuring successful outcomes were achieved in building disputes. After Queensland’s 2011 floods, Bruce consulted to ICPS Australia, an engineering business largely servicing the insurance industry, where he quickly rose to be National Technical Manager.
At BExA, Bruce develops and implements new business strategies to meet clients’ needs. He leads a team of experts providing a high-quality, reliable, independent building consultancy service.
Bruce is a Master Builders Association committee member and consults to local government on the impact of environmental factors on building structures. He is often asked to be a guest speaker for insurance, building and legal industry events. Bruce contributes to the professional development of staff and raises awareness of governance standards and legislative and compliance requirements affecting the building industry.
